This week is Refugee and migrant week. Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts & culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

 
Sutton Council would like to highlight the different types of support we provide through our library and cultural offer:
 

Refugee and Migrant week June 17 - 23, 2024 exhibition: This exhibition showcases works from the spring term creative course organised by Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton. Available to view this week at Sutton Central Library, 2nd floor. 

 
ESOL visit: in partnership with Sutton College, we support English as a second language students by demonstrating all that our library and cultural spaces have to offer. Many of these students come from overseas, and are starting their lives in the UK. Over 70 students have visited libraries since April this year!

Life in the UK: Life in the UK is a comprehensive guide to help all those who are new to the United Kingdom free to those with a library membership. It explains numerous things that may be different or new, containing the basic facts and information needed to help succeed in British life. Culture, customs, religion, travelling and public transport, health, hygiene and the NHS are among the many topics covered.
 
LOTE4KIDS:  picture book collection of 3,500+ book titles in 65+ languages for children. Enjoy books and learn language as a family through wonderful stories.

Hong Kongers book collection: In November 2023, we started a book collection with Sutton’s Hong Kong residents that helps to preserve Hong Kong culture, and foster integration. Over 1000 books have been issued since then!
