Share a recipe for Sutton’s Community Cookbook
Food has a special way of bringing people together. A favourite dish can hold memories of family, culture, celebration, comfort and home. This spring, Sutton Cultural Services is inviting residents to help create a Community Cookbook celebrating the stories and flavours of our borough.
We are looking for recipes that mean something to you. It could be a family classic, a dish linked to your heritage, a recipe you always make for celebrations, or simply something you love to cook and share.
Alongside the ingredients and method, we would love to hear a little about the story behind your recipe. You might want to tell us whether it has a cultural, family or regional connection, whether there is a memory linked to it, or why you wanted to share it with us. If you have a photo of the finished dish, or even a meaningful handwritten version of the recipe in a notebook, recipe card or cookbook, you are welcome to share that too.
As part of the project, we will also be running a series of friendly Community Cookbook workshops across Sutton Libraries and heritage houses in April and May 2026. These sessions will give people the chance to turn a favourite recipe into a beautifully designed cookbook page using simple Canva templates. No design or digital experience is needed, and support will be provided throughout.
If you join a workshop, you will be invited to bring your recipe, any background story or memories you would like to include, and a photo of the dish if you have one. Finished pages will become part of Sutton’s digital community cookbook, with selected pages featured in a special exhibition.
Can’t attend a workshop but still want to take part? You can still submit your recipe using our online form.
