Caos Is Back Once Again for 2025 with Exciting New Artists and Locations!
Carshalton Artists present their free Open Studios art trail in South London, which
takes place over two weekends 28th and 29th June and 5th and 6th July.
CAOS is one of the largest open studios in South London. Now in its ninth year, it
attracts thousands of visitors. With over 60 talented artists, an art trail route includes
over twenty locations across the picturesque and historical Carshalton village and
surrounding area. Visitors can see a wide range of artwork including ceramics,
painting, drawing, photography, video, printmaking, textiles, glass and sculpture.
Helena Vaughan, founder of Carshalton Artists “This free event is much loved by the
local community who continually tell us they find the trail both inspiring and uplifting.
This year we have focused on deepening our excellent showcase by introducing
more local and developing talent for all to enjoy’’
Visitors to CAOS are always impressed by the talent on show ‘a fabulous opportunity
to meet local artists and see their place of work – so many mediums and so much
talent’ was just one of the comments posted from last year's 2024 event.
There are exciting new venues including Ecolocal’s Garden Hall, part of the elegant
newly redeveloped Lodge in Honeywood Walk, Carshalton in the delightful grounds
of the Sutton Ecology Centre adjacent to the historic Honeywood Museum.
Another new location is Arc (Gem Stage Scenery), behind Cryer Arts. A collaboration
of new artists here will bring a new aesthetic to the trail and the huge pieces on
display will certainly be remembered. A further four new locations with new artists
will bring fresh ideas to the trail and, in total, there are more than 10 new artists to
see at CAOS 2025.
Honeywood Museum is back, showcasing its historic art collection, as is the arts and
crafts former home of Frank R. Dickinson (1874-1961), Little Holland House at 40
Beeches Avenue, Carshalton. Vellum Mill Gallery on Mill Lane, Carshalton is open
once again. Part of this local historic site was converted by the current owners into a
gallery in 2023. This year the Vellum Mill Gallery will host seven fantastic artists
working across painting, photography and glass art. With the wonderful River
Wandle running alongside it, this will be a great destination at the start of the 2025
trail.
Other popular locations will be The Greyhound Hotel, Bespoke Gallery, The Corner
Gallery and Oaks Park Studios. Visitors can follow the trail through Carshalton to the
Corner Gallery, hosting the work of young artists taking part in #TeenCAOS, and
then up through Carshalton Beeches to Oaks Park and the excellent Artists; studios
in the Grade II listed Old Stable Block. Here they will not only see art, but live music
from local Jazz band ‘The Macaroons.’
Many artists will be giving the local community a chance to either have a go or see a
demo of artists at work. Check out the locations map - available at local shops,
libraries, businesses and online - to find out which studios are offering this.
Local sponsors have been critical to make this event happen and CAOS organisers
would like to thank; Ambience Home, Bespoke Art Services, Calladoodles, The
Corner Gallery, Ecolocal, Goodfellows, The Greyhound Hotel, KJC Architects, St
Martins Restaurant, STR Design & Print, Sutton Council's Cultural Services and
Vellum Mill Gallery.
