Exhibition: Bun n Cheese: Things that bring me joy

As part of black history month, the Gallery space at Sutton Library will be hosting a month long exhibition titled "Bun n Cheese: Things that bring me joy".

Curated by the the writer / artist / academic, Michael Mcillan, this exhibition was made in collaboration with ten Black British elders of Caribbean heritage, and it the culmination of a five-week oral history exploring objects from their homes that bring them joy and speaks to their lived experience in Britain.

The exhibition is free to attend, and can be visited at any point during the staffed opening hours at Sutton Central Library. For more information, visit our event platform.

Sutton Historians: Dr. Michael McMillan presents Bun n Cheese

Join us on 30th October for a special addition of Sutton Historians, as critically acclaimed artist and academic Dr. Michael McMillian presents a talk on the project behind Bun n Cheese: Things that bring me joy exhibition.

SACCO Book Reviews

To help celebrate Black History Month Sutton Libraries reached out to SACCO (Sutton African and Caribbean Cultural Organisation), to collaborate on a series of book reviews. These reviews, written and curated by members of Sutton's black community,  focus on books that explore the history, culture, and lived experiences of the black communities around the world.
