The Grade II listed building next to Carshalton Ponds dates from the 17th century but was extended in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The house has been beautifully restored to show how it would have looked when it was a family home. The Edwardian era billiards room, drawing room, bathroom and kitchen will let visitors step into the past and see for themselves how the residents of Honeywood would have lived.</span></p>

Built around 1500, Whitehall is a Grade II* listed Tudor house in the heart of Cheam Village. It is owned and managed by the London Borough of Sutton who opened it as a local museum in 1978 following a campaign by the community.</span></p>

Inspired by Ruskin, Dickinson bought one of the first plots of land in this developing South London suburb at the end of the nineteenth century. Little Holland House is open on the first Sunday of each month with regular tours about the history of the house throughout the day.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 18pt;">eBook readers allow the text of books to be increased and altered to suit the reader. These can be downloaded onto a smart device at home for free. eBooks available from <a href="https://libraries.sutton.gov.uk/digital-content/digital-resources/digital-library">BorrowBox</a> and <a href="https://libraries.sutton.gov.uk/digital-content/digital-resources/digital-library">Libby</a> support different colour themes available (e.g. Lite, Sepia, Dark) and different fonts available including Dyslexia friendly font. BorrowBox has adjustable text spacing (e.g. narrow, normal &amp; wide). Libby has a &ldquo;define&rdquo; feature, allowing you to see the meaning of a word within the text.</span></p>

Sections of text can be highlighted for easier reading. There is audio narration available from text. Publications can be presented as was printed, in a screen friendly format and/or full screen. And &ldquo;SmartZoom&rdquo; allows automatic zoom in to the start of an article. <a href="https://libraries.sutton.gov.uk/digital-content/digital-resources/digital-library">Libby, by Overdrive</a> provides digital magazines with can be scaled in text size and has different colour modes (bright, sepia and dark) for a more comfortable reading experience.</span></p>

Everyone knows the story of Joan of Arc, a peasant girl who put Charles VII on the throne and spearheaded France's victory over Britain before being burned by the English as a heretic and witch. But things are not always as they appear. Jeanne d'Arc was only five when three angels and saints first came to her. Shrouded by a halo of heavenly light, she believed their claim to be holy. The Archangel Michael and Saint Margaret told her she was the foretold Warrior Maid of Lorraine, fated to free France and put a king upon his throne. Saint Catherine made her promise to obey their commands and embrace her destiny; the three saints would guide her every step. Jeanne bound herself to these creatures without knowing what she'd done. As she got older, Jeanne grew to mistrust and fear the voices, and they didn't hesitate to punish her cruelly for disobedience.
