The Grade II listed building next to Carshalton Ponds dates from the 17th century but was extended in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The house has been beautifully restored to show how it would have looked when it was a family home. The Edwardian era billiards room, drawing room, bathroom and kitchen will let visitors step into the past and see for themselves how the residents of Honeywood would have lived.</span></p>

Built around 1500, Whitehall is a Grade II* listed Tudor house in the heart of Cheam Village. It is owned and managed by the London Borough of Sutton who opened it as a local museum in 1978 following a campaign by the community.</span></p>

Inspired by Ruskin, Dickinson bought one of the first plots of land in this developing South London suburb at the end of the nineteenth century. Little Holland House is open on the first Sunday of each month with regular tours about the history of the house throughout the day.</span></p>

BorrowBox has adjustable text spacing (e.g. narrow, normal &amp; wide). Libby has a &ldquo;define&rdquo; feature, allowing you to see the meaning of a word within the text.</span></p>

Sections of text can be highlighted for easier reading. There is audio narration available from text. Publications can be presented as was printed, in a screen friendly format and/or full screen. Join Jeff from SUTTONfx, one year on from the wonderful talk on the life of Dr George Rice, to learn about Dr. Rice’s extraordinary life and impact, and how this is being recognised through a local community garden project. 

Dr George Rice was an African-American born in 1848 who had an extraordinary life. Dr. Rice worked and lived in Sutton for over 50 years until his death in 1935, holding many positions, including chief public vaccinator for Sutton, Cheam and Carshalton.
